What is the one organ that people complain about on the daily? If you said stomach you would be right!


So many people we talk to complain in one way or another about gut issues and over the last few years it’s gotten really bad. What is an unhealthy gut and how can it negatively affect you?

Different aspects of modern life such as sleep deprivation, high stress, processed foods, foods that contain high amounts of sugar, alcohol and antibiotics can all cause damage to our gut. This in turn may affect other facets of our health, such as our immune system, weight, hormone levels, and the ability to absorb nutrients.


Hey guys what’s up this is Tricia from Mind•Body•Soul. Hope you’re healthy, well, and staying positive. I this video I will be going over some common signs of an unhealthy gut and some tips on how to heal your gut.


3. Signs of an unhealthy gut


1. Probably the most common is upset stomach

Gas, bloating, constipation, heartburn, are all signs of an unhealthy gut. An imbalance gut can decrease your body’s ability to absorb nutrients and regulate blood sugar levels.


2. A diet high in sugar

A diet high in sugar and processed foods can decrease the amount of good bacteria in your gut. This imbalance causes sugar cravings, which can further damage your gut. High-fructose, corn syrup, have been known to increased inflammation in the body.


3. Skin problems


The bacteria in your gut directly influences the balance of bacteria on your skin a imbalance can result in things like acne, eczema , and psoriasis. Some studies also show that food allergies may also be related to a unhealthy gut.


Tips on how to heal your gut


1. Eat slowly To promote full digestion and absorption of nutrients it is vital to be mindful to chew your food thoroughly and eat more slowly. This may aid in maintaining a healthy gut.

2. Eat clean

Avoid sugar and high processed foods. The foods we eat directly effects the balance bacteria in our gut. Your diet should consist mostly of high-fiber vegetables, healthy fats, and lean proteins. Do yourself and your gut a favor and focus on getting a good amount of prebiotic foods, like artichokes, garlic, asparagus, flax seeds, onions, banana, barley, oats, dark chocolate 70 % or higher.

3. Probiotics


Probiotics can improve your health. Taking a probiotic can benefit heart health, immunity, digestion and so much more. Taking a probiotic can help balance the good bacteria in our digestive track, and may even reduce the severity of allergies. A good source of probiotics is fermented food, sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir and kombucha.

4. Get your stress under control
