Tips For Staying Fit This Winter

Cuz you know you all be in hibernation mode.

Hey guys what’s up, this is Tricia with Mind, Body, and Soul aka MBS Protein Boost. I hope you guys are having a fantastic start to the week.

Do your exercise regimens tend to fall to the wayside during the winter months? If so then you’ll want to listen to this video until the end. The winter months can be a challenging time for everyone to stay motivated when it comes to sticking to an exercise plan. The weather is colder, the days are shorter and other priorities can make it hard to find the time to workout. While exercise in winter may be tough, it is very crucial and important for health. When the temperature drops, so does our motivation, leaving us feeling depressed and in despair. So here are just a few tips to keep you on track with your workouts.

1. Stop Hitting The Snooze Button

I always leave my alarm far enough away where I have to get out of bed and turn it off. Then I turn on all the lights and make a cup of coffee. The first couple times will be challenging but after that it will just become routine. I like to workout in the morning otherwise it just won’t happen.

2. Embrace The Discomfort

Let’s face it getting out of a warm bed to head to the gym or go for a run when it’s freezing cold out SUCKS. The Navy Seals refer to this as “Embrace The Suck” your body will thank you for it at the end of the day!

3. Set A Goal Set a long term goal that you would like to achieve by next winter.

For example, say you want to place in the top 10 of your age group in a Triathlon, enter your first Ragnar race, run a 5k, or make it to the top of that mountain with your friends instead of being the one left behind. By setting a long term goal you will most likely make better choices in the short term.

4. Eat Clean

During the winter months it’s easy to pack on the pounds and fall into hibernation mode. But if you stock your refrigerator with fruits and veggies and healthy snacks you are more likely to be motivated to exercise.

5. What Drives You To Workout?

Is it that you want to be around like minded individuals, do you want more energy, do you want to be a example for your children? Do you want to inspire others? When you can answer that question you will have a PURPOSE to get moving. So find a way to stay fit this winter by mixing it up a little. In home workouts via videos, bundle up and go for a run or a walk through your neighborhood, do some yoga or hit the gym for some weight training.
