Living your best life isn’t about trying to look 20 again, it’s about having the physical and mental wellness to enjoy it. Kinda like a good Cabernet that’s been aged and carefully loved for.
Hey guys this is Tricia with Mind•Body•Soul and I Hope this finds you happy, well, and loved. In this video how to live your best life as you age. The reason I put 59 up there on the board is because that is my age and I’m here to tell you that it is possible.
1. Take Care of your Mental Health
Being Happy and Positive will not only lower your stress levels but you will have more vitality and age like a fine wine. Embrace and accept your age, aging is inevitable, so accept the aging process and all that goes with it. It’s a natural part of the life cycle and NO ONE can escape it. So how do you keep your mood elevated? Do whatever feeds your soul and brings you joy. Spend time in nature, create, sing, dance, paint to music....
2. Stay Physically Active
Studies have shown that living a sedentary life can increase your chances of chronic illness and even a early death. I’m not saying you have to climb MT Everest, or ride the Peloton, just get out and move, it’s that simple. Regular exercise significantly lowers your risk of heart disease and cancer, and also helps with Mobility. Exercise lowers stress, improves sleep, and keeps your moods stable.
3. A Well Balance Diet Stay away from processed foods, refined sugars, and unhealthy fats. Eat clean, like dark leafy greens, lean protein, such as fish, chicken (breast meat) beans, whole grain breads, brown rice. and healthy fats, like avocado, walnuts, coconut oil, chia seeds, almonds....
4. Love the Body You Live In
Ditch the narrative that being skinny or looking a certain way is going to make you happy because eventually the wrinkles will start to set in and the skin eventually sets in the South. We buy into the idea that if we look a certain way we will get the approval, respect, and attention we seek. However, look no further than your fashion models or women bodybuilders, on the outside their appearance is close to perfection, but inside is a world we know nothing about, any many are depressed , have drug addictions, eating disorders, body dysmorphia and often commit suicide. So stop judging your body and everyone else’s and start learning to love every part of you. Because every second you judge yourself that’s one second you missed out on living life. These seconds add up to years and sometimes a lifetime. Give yourself COMPASSION and LOVE for this beautiful temple you chose to take up residence in. When you have your judging hat on you miss out on creating special moments.
5. Practice Mindfulness
BEING ALL IN - which is a mental state of being fully immersed in a activity. I once heard someone say if you’re in the kitchen stirring the pot, “stir the pot” in other words be mindful of the different aromas as you stir. When I’m climbing a mountain I’m all in, my energy and focus is not on how high the mountain is but rather studying the rock and strategically finding the perfect the placement for my foot and fingers to grab onto to push my way up the mountain.
