How to Get the Most out of your Workouts 🏋️‍♀️

Let’s face it, most of us don’t LOVE going to the gym, so whether you are a seasoned gym rat or new to the fitness world your goal is to do it in the most efficient and effective way possible.

In this video I’m going to share some of my tips for getting the most out my workouts.

Hey guys what’s up this is Tricia with MIND•BODY•SOUL if your old ways of doing things is the gym is no longer working for you stick around as I explore some key points that will change the way you workout 🏋️‍♀️

Carb-Loading

Carb-loading isn’t just for running marathons, if you are going to do high intensity training, carbs are your primary fuel and will burn more calories while building muscle, then if you were to go in at a fasting state. If you’re a morning workout person then some toast with almond butter or steel oats will do the job.

Furthermore, when doing a 20 min. high intensity workouts, like squats, lunges, jumping jacks, burpees your body will burn twice as many calories then if you were to just go for a run.

Use Free Weights

Free weights, like dumbbells, barbells or kettlebells engage a wider rage of muscle because you have to control the resistance as opposed to using a machine that can guide and support you. Free weights are better for building muscle in the long run.

Switch Things Up

To reap better fitness gains it’s important to switch it up when doing any variation of exercise a good examples would be squats, you will have better gains if you perform deep and full squats , then just deep squats. I like to change it up every month, this way I don’t get bored.

Protein Before Bed

Protein helps repair and build the muscle back up. Growth hormones are elevated at this time. Caesin is a slow digesting Protein, Greek yogurt and chia seeds is a good choice before you retire for the night. My go to is usually eat a couple eggs with 1/2 of avocado, a scoop of protein mixed with almond butter or just a hand full of almonds.

Solid Playlist

If you want to get fired up before your workout then you better have your favorite playlist playing.

No! not breakup love songs, songs that motivate you and push you to do another rep or another 5 mins on the elliptical. It will elevate your mood and have you feeling like a badass when you hit those arrows up on speed and incline.
